Our "KUMANO Makeup Brush Set with KIMONO" is One of The Wonder 500!

The Wonder 500 project is a regionally-driven Cool Japan project designed to discover “local products that are the pride and joy of Japan but not yet known outside of Japan,” and then promote them around the world.
A total of 500 products from all 47 Japanese prefectures were selected by 30 expert producers and public voting.
The selections were evaluated in the three categories of Tourism, Craftsmanship, and Food, based on the following criterion: Innovative items created with a certain concept or passion, combined with traditional values supporting unique Japanese craftsmanship and good service.
Each and every one of these 500 items express the values nurtured in the Japanese since ancient times (impermanence and permanence, respect for nature and one’s ancestors, craftsmanship, concept, excellent design, wisdom, etc.).
Through the 500 items, we hope to communicate warmth and wonder, and if it inspires even one person to visit Japan, to buy a Japanese product, or eat some Japanese food, we will have accomplished our goal.
Our "KUMANO Makeup Brush Set with KIMONO" is selected as one of The Wonder 500!

Our company was given official permission of "Fude Yui" (making and selling brushes) business from the Hiroshima prefecture and incorporated as "Shiromoto Shoten" in January 1881, and this month is 136th anniversary from the incorporation.

The foundation of our company went back to Mr. Yasubei Shiromoto, who started making brushes in 1869. This year is 148th anniversary for making brushes.

Mr. Kenji Shiromoto, current CEO of the company, is the seventh generation from Yasubei Shiromoto, and he pledges to continue the business toward at least 200th anniversary by being loved by the customers, suppliers, people from the local community.

Kakizome Contest

"Kakizome" Contest in Hiroshima
There was a contest for "Kakizome" for school students at the Hiroshima Prefectural Sports Center on January 9, 2017.
More than 2,000 students, from elementary school to high school, around Hiroshima area took part in this event, and our company supported this event.
People all across Japan write down their resolutions and hopes using a traditional calligraphy brush and Indian ink for the start of the year. We hope many people continue to do this traditional activity, "Kakizome", in the future as well.
